Kliklok Wraps It Up!

August 01, 2005

BRISTOL, UK — Kliklok Woodman has won a record number of orders over the past few weeks for their ‘wraparound’ cartoning machines, for a variety of different products – pots, bowls & trays, in singles & multi-packs.

The trend towards wraparound sleeving of ready meals, dairy pots & other prepared foods has been welcomed by Kliklok as the perfect opportunity to showcase their Certiwrap machines – the C80 capable of up to 80 sleeves per minute, and the C150, which as the name suggests runs up to 150 per minute.

Over the coming weeks, the company will be despatching six of these machines to various customers throughout Europe.

Later this month Kliklok will be installing a C150 sleever at Rachel’s Dairy, in Aberystwyth. This producer ofpremium organic products continues tobreak new ground withthestriking black sleeve designs for their4-packyogurts in 2 different sizes, with special ‘kick-in’ feature in the sleeve to retain the pots within the wrap.

Operations Director David Underdown said: "The purchase of Kliklok’s C150 machine is the first step for Rachels Dairy towards cartoning automationand will enable us to cater for the huge growth in demand for our organic yogurts”

A similar application is about to be installed at Premier Foods in Lifton, Devon, for the sleeving of 4 pack erca-style pots of custard under the ‘Ambrosia’ brand name. As with Rachel’s Dairy, Premier Foods chose to have a special ‘kick-in’ feature to secure the pack of pots inside the wrap.

In addition, a Swedish producer of ready meals & convenience foods is about to install a Kliklok C80 sleeving machine to wrap oval and round C-PET bowls. These plastic bowls have ‘ears’ which protrude through cut-outs in the side of the sleeve, specially designed by A & R Cartons.

The main benefits of the C80 include stainless steel construction, compact footprint and positive control throughout the sleeving process.

Another ‘wraparound’ success story for Kliklok is a repeat order from Park Cakes in Oldham, part of the Northern Foods Group, for a 2nd C150 machine to pack individual desserts. This is in addition to the first Certiwrap line installed for the company last year, to sleeve individual crumbles and puddings for Marks & Spencer.

Kliklok designed & developed the Certiwrap range to meet the demands and innovations in packaging design, particularly with the growth of the ready meal and dairy product market. So to compliment the success of this equipment, Kliklok Woodman have developed a unique product handling unit to integrate with either the C150 or the C80 – an automatic BOWL ORIENTATION SYSTEM, for which a patent is pending. This system can orientate shaped bowls that were previously thought impossible to handle. This allows Kliklok Woodman to offer a fully automatic handling, orientating & sleeving solution for the prepared food industry.
